I hope this finds you well and healthy!
So … are you watching the Olympics? I know I know, some of y’all don’t care for them at all, some of you can take them or leave them, and then … there are the few that enjoy them as much as I do. I get it, really I do, they’re not for everyone, but they are still great for motivation no matter what sport you watch or what you do for a living. If you have even the slightest competitive edge in you … the Olympics are a gold mine for digging out motivation ideas and attitudes.
Staying with the Olympic theme this week – the quote is hundreds of years old and from a legendary warrior in ancient China. Sun Tzu says; “Victory is reserved for those willing to pay its price”. This can be used to motivate a business person, a soldier, a student or an Olympic athlete. Any one and EVERY one can benefit from this quote. The successful business man or women that make their mark and then stays there (that’s the key – you gotta stick around for it to count) has paid a hefty price to get there. The doctor that saves a patient had to pay a price to have that skill. How about a parent, raising a successful child – defining success as getting good grades, being productive, being socially healthy, learning to take care of themselves … I’d say those are huge victories that come with a price.
Those victories, and ANY victory for that matter, take effort, take a certain amount of planning & timing, take blood sweat & tears, they have their highs & lows … that is the price of victory. Victory RARELY if EVER just falls into ones lap. Pick a goal, path, trip, endeavor, hobby, new career, new relationship … you name it, if you want it bad enough then there will be some price to pay, it’s NEVER “luck”. In fact one of my favorite “luck” quotes is; Luck favors the prepared – in other words it’s never about just “luck”, even luck requires a price. More on “luck” in a later blog.
If you want to be victorious in your workouts and health … you gotta be willing to pay the price.
See you at the gym!!!
