Hey All,

I hope this finds you well and healthy! Guys & gals, I know I say this to y’all often in person and in these emails … but, please know that I really do mean it. Every time I see you at the gym or email you, I do hope that you are well & healthy.

I love the Olympic Games!! Summer or winter – both of them have games I love to watch … but, my favorites are the winter games, especially the Short Track skating. That is one fast & crazy-assed race!!! For ALL the games, it’s just so freaking inspirational to see the talent and hard work pay off for the athletes that make it to the Olympics. Yeah, I know, some of them don’t even make it through the prelims … but that still means they beat out EVERYONE else in the world up to that point!!! That’s still very badass! I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that I think it would be a fairly safe bet that every one of us has at some point, either as a child, teen or even as an adult, thought of being an Olympic competitor. The Olympics are so much more than the “overpaid” professional sports that you can see any dang weekend. Yeah yeah, I know … Olympic athletes get some pretty sweet endorsement deals, but the point is much greater than that. You just don’t see “Olympians” whining about how hard they have it like the “pros”.

Think about the dedication, commitment and plain perseverance it would take to make it to a local competition much less being the best in the world … and ONLY every four years in your specialty! At the end of the day though, each and every one of us has the potential to be whatever we want to be, physically, spiritually, mentally, financially … the list is endless. If you don’t think you have what it takes to be an Olympian you are wrong!

Think for just a moment the dedication and commitment it takes to get up and go to work each day, maybe to a job you aren’t particularly fond of anymore. What about the dedication it takes to be the best parent you can be each day, setting the examples you want your child to follow. The commitment it takes to be a true friend to someone, to maintain your own health by exercising – even if you don’t feel like it sometimes, to go through and survive a serious illness, not to mention your own sanity in a complex world with all the bombardments of a modern society. Think of the perseverance it takes to stick to your beliefs and convictions when people around you don’t.

Yeah, it would still be so cool to be the best in the world at something and recognized as an “Olympian” … but you already are to the people that depend on you for a thousand things each and every day.

Every one of us get the gold, the silver and bronze every day. We are all leaders and we are all followers in daily life. We all possess the qualities of the top athletes we watch on T.V ... and then some!

Ok, maybe you aren’t in the 2014 games, but you should count your blessings and just know that you are an “Olympian” in the competition we call life.

See you at the gym!!!
