And speaking of restaurant eating …
True or false – eating the traditional 3 meals a day works just as well for keeping up your energy and metabolism as eating 5-6 small meals a day? ANSWER …….. TRUE!!
So why have you heard ME and other experts say to eat 5-6 small meals? Well, it’s because damn few of y’all even eat the traditional 3 meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner – regularly enough to do you nutritional good! You know who you are – I’ve had to just about smack some of you around just to get you to start eating breakfast!
The solution nutritionists have come up with is to suggest not to eat the 3 traditional meals but to “graze” throughout the day to keep your energy up as well as stoking the metabolic fires. The up-side to grazing throughout the day is exactly that … you maintain energy levels, keep the internal fires burning, and keep the “binge” eating potential at bay. The down-side is some of you take it to the extreme and are eating way more calories than you should.
If you can’t “do” the traditional 3 squares a day, then graze correctly – eat healthy small snacks such as … small apple, banana, variety of fruits, handful of almonds, healthy snack bars, low fat cheese sticks and or yogurt, prep some veggies the night before and snack on those at your desk. It sounds like a lot of work … that’s your fat talking! Just start the habit of prepping your snacks for the next day and watch the results!!!!
